NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Two men accused of killing an eight-year-old boy and a 23-year-old man remain in custody, pending an appeal that’s set to be heard on December 17 against their recent acquittal.

Justice Dale Fitzpatrick on December 3 directed a nine member jury of eight women and one man to acquit.

Lloyd Minnis and Perry Pickering of the 2017 murders of Dennis Moss and third grader Eugene Woodside Jr after prosecutors presented no evidence in support of the charges.

Prosecutors allege that on September 25, 2017, Pickering fired shots at Moss. Some of those shots allegedly ripped through Eugene’s wooden home and he was struck in the chest.

Pickering allegedly fled in a van, allegedly driven by Minnis.

The prosecution’s case collapsed after the judge refused to reconsider a September decision not to allow an alleged eyewitness to testify anonymously.

Fitzpatrick directed the prosecutors to produce the witness after they repeatedly failed to make the witness anonymity application.
