Miller’s 32 Leads Bahamas Past Jamaica

JAMAICA – Coming in with two losses, team Bahamas faced a road game walking into hostile territory and kept their World Cup qualification hopes alive in the most dramatic fashion possible.

Franco Miller Jr’s three pointer with just under a minute left, capped a fourth quarter comeback and sealed The Bahamas’ huge road victory in Kingston over Jamaica, 99–96.

Miller has been having a standout season in the NBA G-league and that momentum carried over to the qualifiers. He shot 6-13 from three and added seven assists to lead four Bahamians in double figures.

Tavario Miller had 22 points on 10-12 shooting from the field and added nine rebounds. Garvin Clarke Jr had 13 points and a game high nine assists. Sammy hunter had 12 points and Isaiah Mobley had eight points and team high nine rebounds.

In a game that had nine ties and 16 lead changes, Miller had 18 in the first half to keep The Bahamas close, but Jamaica led 55-53 at the half and took an 81-77 lead into the fourth quarter.

The Bahamas held Jamaica to just 15 points in the final period and took the lead for good on a Clarke three around the 3:30 mark in regulation.

The Bahamas improved to third in the group at 1-2 and will travel to San Juan to face winless Puerto Rico on March 1.

Mingoes Soccer

The University of The Bahamas Mingoes soccer team stayed unbeaten in the Bahamas Football Association men’s soccer league. They played with a dominant 5–0 win over Future Stars FC last week.

Nahum Johnson, Clerdjivensky Clerjuste, and Ronaldo Green all found the back of the net in the first half.

In the second half, Mider Dalmasse and Philip Pilgrim added insurance goals.

They secured three more points for UB and the Mingoes improved to 7-0-2.
