Millions Told To Evacuate As Typhoon Batters Japan

JAPAN – Typhoon Shan-Shan made landfall in Japan and has so far left four dead, more than 90 injured and two missing.

It also prompted authorities to ask millions of residents to evacuate.

The storm ripped through the Southwestern Japanese island of Kyushu after making landfall on Thursday morning.

Shan-Shan, the 10th typhoon of the year, has brought strong winds and torrential rain across large swathes of the country, disrupting businesses and transportation services.

Local businesses also took a hit as nearly all major supermarkets and shops closed, including 2,400 outlets of Japan’s top 3 convenience store chains.
