Minister Supports BAPD Land Request

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Bahamas Association for the Physically Disabled has been hoping to be granted more land to expand their services and be able to accommodate more students. Today, Social Services Minister Obie Wilchcombe declared his support for the expansion.

The Rotary Club of East Nassau donated $10,000 dollars.

A much welcome contribution to the BAPD, and just under the estimated $11,000 it takes to sponsor the 22 students for one month.

And the support didn’t stop there. While the BAPD currently has 22 students in its school’s care, there are over 10 children on the waiting list.

But, for now, they simply don’t have the space or the resources to accept them.

The BAPD has been requesting for more land to build an expansion, and acquire more faculty to be able to help more special needs children.

The BAPD has also said they’d need more faculty should the expansion come to fruition.
