Chicago Cubs Prospect Goes 3-4 In the First Game of The Month

BJ Murray recorded three hits last night as his double-A Tennesee Smokies routed the Chattanooga Lookouts, 9-2.

The Minor League all-star went 3-4 with a walk. He was a home run short of hitting for the cycle, hitting a single, a double, and a triple. He didn’t drive in any RBI because of the monstrous two-homer night by Owen Caissie, who hits ahead of him in the lineup, but BJ did his thing, scoring two runs of his own.

There was no video available of Murray’s heroic exploits but it was free hot dog night so there is that.

Murray has hit .365 with a world-beating 1.111 OPS over the past 15 games. His team leads the entire southern league with a 19-9 record.

The baseball world is beginning to take note of his prodigious talent as he’s already played in the Major League Futures game

Major league teams are allowed to add Minor Leaguers to their rosters when they expand at the conclusion of the minor league season in September. The future may be sooner rather than later for BJ.
