NZ Court Rules Voting Age Discriminatory
NEW ZEALAND -New Zealand’s Supreme Court ruled the country’s voting age of 18 is discriminatory. Parliament must discuss whether it should be lowered.
NEW ZEALAND – New Zealand’s Supreme Court ruling that the country’s voting age of 18 is discriminatory. The ruling now means parliament must discuss whether it should be lowered.
The case was brought by a campaign group called “Make it 16”, which wants the voting age reduced to include 16 and 17-year-olds.
They argue that young people should be able to vote on matters affecting them.
It must now be bought to parliament even though the ruling does not mean the voting age will be lowered.
