NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A police corporal and his cousin are accused of playing a role in the murder of passport office employee Jayson Whitfield.

Prosecutors allege that 47-year-old Darren Davis and 27-year-old Stephon Davis, who was on bail for two murders, conspired to murder Whitfield on December 2, the day before he was found shot dead in a car in Garden Hills.

The pair were not required to enter pleas to the charges when they appeared before Magistrate Shaka Serville.

He ordered them detained at the Central Police Station overnight after their lawyers said they intend to seek emergency bail in the Supreme Court.

They return to court to receive VBI documents on March 23.

Officer Davis appeared in the same courtroom where he worked as an orderly, but this time as a defendant.

He was arrested while on duty at the Magistrates’ Court complex on suspicion of the crime.
