NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Prime Minister Philip Davis is responding to growing backlash following his recent comments questioning the occupation of Opposition Leader Michael Pintard and his ability to lead the country.

Critics argue that the prime minister’s remarks came off as dismissive of individuals working within the creative industry.

However, Davis is standing by his comments, asserting that his administration has done more to support the orange economy than any previous government.

Philip Davis – Prime Minister
“If you look at my blueprint for change, I’ve said that I will be, one of the things I’m going to be developing is the orange economy, and we are well on the way of doing that. And I have done more for the orange economy than I think he did when he was minister of, our minister of culture.”

The prime minister also addressed recent speculation about the possibility of an early election. He dismissed the chatter, insisting that his administration is focused on the work of governing, not political distractions.

Philip Davis – Prime Minister
“I’m hearing the talk of early election. But we have a lot of work to do, and we are executing our work. And I have still a number of things to get started before I call any election. And when, so they got to get started and on the way, then you can say election is imminent. But it’s not imminent now.”

As for ongoing criticism surrounding whether funds are secured in connection with the sale of the Grand Lucayan Resort.

The prime minister opted not to directly address the concern. Instead, he encouraged Bahamians to remain patient and hopeful.

Philip Davis – Prime Minister
“I don’t need to get into these details. Instead of us coming together to ensure that this project is successful, why just stand back and criticize? For years, nothing has happened. Something is about to happen. Let us work together to see that it happens instead of asking these questions.”
