HAITI – Frustrated and fed up, dozens of Haitians marched through the capital on Sunday, demanding an end to gang violence and calling for the country’s leaders to step down. Many blame the Transitional Presidential Council and Prime Minister for the chaos as gangs tighten their grip on Port-au-Prince. Protesters say they’re losing homes, businesses, and even lives. One man told the Associated Press, “All we want is security.” Haiti’s crisis continues to worsen, with over 1,600 people killed in just the first three months of the year. Meanwhile, the U.S. is now officially labeling two of Haiti’s most dangerous gangs as foreign terrorist organizations. The groups, VIV Ansanm and Gran Grif, are blamed for deadly raids and neighborhood takeovers. But some aid workers worry the designation could make it harder to deliver food and water to vulnerable areas.
