NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The British High Commission celebrating a record number of Bahamian Chevening Scholars this year after the private sector decided to come on board and support the prestigious educational initiative.

The Grand Bahamian private sector came in strong with support from Bahamas Hot Mix and the Hayward Foundation.

British High Commissioner Thomas Hartley says this is just the beginning for scholarship opportunities.

This year’s 4-woman cohort includes a firearms examiner in the Royal Bahamas Police Force, a Nassau Container Port sustainability officer, an education officer with the Bahamas National Trust, and a journalist, all off to further their educations in the UK.

Here’s what they had to say when I asked them how they hope to help shape The Bahamas upon their return.
