NASSAU, BAHAMAS – World-class composer, writer and voice coach, Maestro Lee Callender has died at the age of 64.
NASSAU, BAHAMAS – World-class composer, writer and voice coach, Maestro Lee Callender has died at the age of 64.
Callender, the grandson of the composer of our national anthem, the late Timothy Gibson, was the husband of Bahamian Opera Singer Joann Deveaux Callender, niece of world re-known pianist, George “God Bless” Moxey.
A musical family indeed, Callender was a mere six years old when his grandfather started giving him piano lessons.
He had a deep appreciation for every aspect of music, but was of the firm belief that the singing voice is the most expressive of all the instruments.
