NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Foreign Affairs Minister Fred Mitchell says a resolution is being drafted calling for armed support for Haitian police officers.

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Amid ongoing issues in Haiti, Foreign Affairs Minister Fred Mitchell says a resolution is being drafted calling for armed support for Haitian police officers.

Mitchell says advice is being sought from local law enforcement on the matter. Adding the Prime Minister will hold discussions with regional leaders.

Mitchell recounted The Bahamas taking part in a similar mission in 1994 when law enforcement officers were sent to Haiti to assist.

The news comes after he said The Bahamas could be called to assist in addressing the issue in Haiti.
