UNITED STATES – Tributes are pouring in for Roberta Flack, the legendary singer behind “Killing Me Softly with His Song,” who passed away Monday at 88.

Dionne Warwick called Flack a “dear friend” and shared a duet they performed together.

Jennifer Hudson praised her as “one of the great soul singers of all time”. While Rev. Al Sharpton remembered her activism and friendship with the civil rights movement.

Flack, a five-time Grammy winner, was the first artist to win record of the year twice in a row.

She was diagnosed with ALS in 2022, which ended her ability to sing.
