UNITED STATES – Valentino Simon delivered a career night to lift his Omaha Mav’s to pair of statement wins as the regular season winds down.

The senior forward scored a new career-high 21 points and added 10 rebounds to lead the Mavericks to an upset win over St. Thomas 98-94.

Entering the night averaging just 2.2 points per game, Simon got the start at center and erupted for 15 points in the first half.

He went on to nearly double his previous career high of 11 points.
Simon said the matchup favored his quickness against St. Thomas’ bigs and credited a week of preparation for his readiness.

Simon followed up that performance with another start in an 83-76 win over Denver.

He finished with 11 points, five rebounds and six assists in 30 minutes.
The back-to-back wins moved omaha to 14-14 overall and 7-6 in summit league play, and in fourth place with three regular-season games remaining.
