NASSAU, BAHAMAS – What does it mean to live sustainably? Turns out, there’s not a lot to it, but making the decision to put sustainability first means taking the first step.

Environmental sustainability means living or operating in a way that causes little or no damage to the environment.

And there may not be a lot to taking the first steps to living a more environmentally-friendly life.

Bahamas First is one local business putting their money and actions where it counts most.

Deborah McKinney, Bahamas First Group Operations and Special Projects Manager, tells Our News their move toward sustainability began in the office.

Switching out disposable cups for a reusable coffee mug or water bottle is a start.

The Bahamas banned single-use plastics and Styrofoam food containers, joining more than 40 countries around the world cutting waste.

McKinney says it takes action at all levels to preserve our country and our planet for future generations. But in order to take action, you have to first know where you are.
