NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Do you have a national hero in your life? It could be someone who is making a difference in the public service, or even in civil society.

If so, the advisory committee for National Honours is inviting you to submit nominations for distinguished service medals for exceptional service in the public service, and badges of honour for individuals in civil society who perform exceptional service to The Bahamas, as well as medals for bravery.

Nominations are also open for the Order of National Hero; Nation; The Bahamas; the Order of Excellence; Distinction; Merit; and the Order of Lignum Vitae.

You can pick up a nomination form from the Cabinet Office on New Providence, or administrators’ offices in the Family Islands.

The deadline for submissions is March 31, 2023.

The honorees will be announced on July 10, during our 50th anniversary of Independence.

Those awards are expected to be presented on the second Monday in October, in accordance with National Honours Act.
