NICARAGUA – We’re less than 24 hours away from tipoff at the FIBA Americup in Managua, Nicaragua and Team Bahamas is ready to take on one of the toughest field’s the program has ever faced.

After 10 days of training camp, we get to the games that count – the first of three games in the group stage – the USA.

Facing the world’s greatest international basketball superpower and with a first time head coach in Lourawls Nairn Jr., Team Bahamas remains confident in keeping the momentum going that they built over the last few years.

Team Bahamas will follow with a back to back against Brazil Sunday night, a scheduled day off on Monday and a matchup against Paraguay.

Volleyball

Mixed results Thursday night for local volleyball fans at the Kendal Isaacs Gymnasium as the Cazova Senior Championships continued.

The Bahamas’ men’s team struggled in pool a, but defeated Barbados in five sets to advance to tonight’s semifinals: 22-25, 25-29, 25-20, 18-25, 15-12

They face a rematch against the defending champions Suriname at 8pm.

The women, lost the fifth place game to Suriname in three sets and concluded the tournament winless.

Basketball

Buddy Hield’s elite 24 camp gives an opportunity for the top players and coaches in the country To learn what it takes to take their games to the next level.

Hield’s three day camp concluded Friday afternoon following several sessions of on the court instruction and off the court mentoring to the country’s best young players.

Coaches were also on hand to benefit from the way Hield and his group of instructors taught the game.
