GRAND BAHAMA, BAHAMAS –  Troy McIntosh is the Deputy Director and City Manager at the Grand Bahama Port Authority and he emphasizes the vital role of the City Maintenance Department.

So what exactly does his portfolio cover?

He oversees the management of the city as well as the geographical information systems division.

His team has embraced technology to cut down on paper usage ensuring that tasks don’t fall through the cracks and that operations align with 21ast century standards.

Through the Freeport report app, residents can report issues and submit concerns in the city directly from their phones.

And how does the department maintain such high standards across the city?

“No matter what it is, listen to the customer complaint, address it in 48 hours, or respond within 48 hours,” McIntosh said.

“Whether you can resolve it or you have to defer to another department that is key, but we want them to know that we looking into it. We have not forgotten it. Secondly, putting systems in place that is efficient, looking at what you do. One of my objectives coming here, and once I got a lay of the land, was, how do we make this department, city management, paperless? And so that was a journey.”
