NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Alpha Sounds Promotions is celebrating its 25th anniversary. But how did it all begin?

“I would say about thirty-five years ago when I realized I really had a love and appreciation for music.”

Trevor Davis, owner of Alpha Sounds Promotions, tells how it all started. Inspired by Waggy T, Trevor was once a disc jockey called DJ Alpha. The love he had for music grew beyond the turntables, sparking a desire to curate events. Eventually, he made the transition from DJ Alpha to the businessman behind Alpha Sounds Promotions.

His first event was on December 4, 1991, in the Crystal Palace Ballroom. It was headlined by the Visage Band and the legendary soca band, Square One.

From then to now, Alpha Sounds has hosted some of the biggest events in the country with major names such as Brian McKnight, Shenseea, Karyn White, Destra, Beenie Man, Machel Montano, Nailah Blackman, and so many more.

Davis says that his ambition, along with his passion to bring unique experiences to The Bahamas, is the driving force behind Alpha Sounds’ longevity.

“I’m happy I was able to do a lot of those shows cause I think a lot of persons wouldn’t have been able to see some of those people in their real life and as far as still being here twenty-five years later doing it because I was able to keep a balance. I understood the business at a very early stage in the business.”

But what does he think are some of his biggest accomplishments? He says they include building strong networks in both the local and regional community, maintaining relationships with cultural ambassadors like Giselle The Wassi One, and most importantly, the support from his wife.

“So twenty-five years later no I’m not surprised that I’m still here doing what I love to do. Most people think this is even just a hobby for me to make people happy, but I enjoy it. Yeah, twenty-five years later and I still want to be able to do another twenty-five hopefully.”
