NASSAU, BAHAMAS – November 1st marks the beginning of Diabetes Awareness Month and it is being globally marked under the theme “Take Charge of Tomorrow: Preventing Diabetes Health Problems.”

Board-certified dermatologist, Dr. Jaimie Davis spoke to the importance of noticing changes in your skin.

But, Davis says, there are other signs involving the skin that are a little less serious.

Dr. Davis adds that while some people may be predisposed to the condition through genetics, your diet is one controllable factor to avoiding and managing diabetes.

And if you have been diagnosed with diabetes, consistent maintenance is key.
