UNITED STATES – Meanwhile U.S. President Donald Trump says Russia and Ukraine will “immediately” begin ceasefire talks, this after a two-and-a-half-hour phone call with Vladimir Putin Monday.

The Russian leader says he’s open to “compromises,” though it’s unclear what that means. Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky isn’t backing down, insisting Ukraine won’t give up its land and warning Trump not to make deals without Kyiv at the table.

Trump, speaking from the White House, called the call “progress” but didn’t offer details, only saying, “hopefully we did something.”
