TRINIDAD & TOBAGO – Officials in Trinidad and Tobago say the hold on students applying for new U.S. Visas is just a short operational pause and not a policy change.

The Ministry of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs said this week that it is in direct contact with U.S. authorities who confirmed the recent move by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio does not signify a change in the policy toward Trinidad and Tobago.

The ministry says as it monitors developments, students should watch official channels for updates and not panic.
