UB Hosts Soccer and V-Ball Tryouts

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The UB Mingoes recently held tryouts for its men’s soccer and men’s and women’s volleyball teams.

Currently sitting in 2nd place in The Bahamas Football Association, the Mingoes are looking for pieces that can put them over the top.

The University’s women’s volleyball team is also looking to add talent. Although they made it to the New Providence Volleyball Association playoffs last year, they’re looking to add more talent.

Tryouts were held over the weekend but UB is always looking for talent, so if you think you have what it takes, be sure to reach out to any of the coaches.

Meanwhile, Bahamians Deandre Ayton, Klay Thompson, and Eric Gordon are all in the NBA playoffs.

Thompson and his Golden State Warriors played the Sacramento Kings on Saturday night.

While Eric Gordon and Deandre Ayton faced each other when Gordon’s Los Angeles Clippers took on Ayton’s Suns.

A trio of Bahamians made their debut in the 2023 NBA playoffs.

Klay Thompson scored 21 points, grabbed 6 boards, and dished out 5 assists as his golden state warriors lost to the Sacramento Kings 126-123 on Saturday night in game one of the first round of the playoffs.

On Sunday night Bahamians, Deandre Ayton, and Eric Gordon faced off as Gordon’s Los Angeles Clippers eeked out a win over Ayton and the Phoenix Suns, 115-110.

Starting at the number-2 spot for the Clippers in place of the injured Paul George, Gordon scored 19 points on a 7 of 14 shooting.

He went against Ayton, who, scored 18 points and grabbed 8 rebounds for the Suns.

Game 2 of the Warriors/Kings series continues tonight while the Suns and the Clippers play tomorrow.
