PORT-AU-PRINCE, HAITI – United Nations Children Emergency Fund (UNICEF) is sounding the alarm this week saying gang rule in Haiti has fueled a 1,000% surge in child sexual violence since 2023.

More than 85% of Port-Au-Prince is under gang control, leaving a million kids in constant danger.

The un agency say one 16-year-old was abducted for a month and repeatedly raped and only freed when her family couldn’t pay ransom.

Over 5,600 people were killed in gang violence last year, with foreign aid frozen, UNICEF warns funds are running low, and says Haiti’s most vulnerable risk being forgotten.
