EXUMA, BAHAMAS – The best beaches, world famous swimming pigs, amazing diving and snorkeling spots, an underwater grotto, fishing, national parks and on and on.

Those are just some of the attractions that make Exuma a tourist mecca.

Charity Armbrister-McKenzie is the Director of Authentic events with Exuma’s Ministry of Tourism office.

She sees the economic boom in Exuma with the influx of foreign vistiors. While Bahamians come primarily for regattas and homecomings, she’s hoping more Bahamians see it as a vacation destination.

However, there is this, which could be a reason Bahamians opt to go elsewhere.

And that’s where ministry backed programs like Bahama-Host continue to try and raise the level of service in places like Exuma.

And through programs like the 2-Fly Free Bahamians are also able to take advantage of discounted travel and accommodations.

So the next time you’re looking for a great vacation experience, look right in your own backyard to islands like Exuma.
