NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A historical moment in our country’s medical industry happening on Saturday with the opening of a new medical lab.

The facility was established to address a taboo issue for both men and women.

Our Denielle Miller reports.

Partnering with Rejuvenating Fertility Center, Doctor’s Hospital officially opening the first invitro fertilization lab in the country.

Chief Medical Officer for Doctor’s Hospital Dr. Sheena Antonio – Collie says while the facility may be new, IVF treatment is not.

She says back in 2024, founder and medical director for the Rejuvenating Fertility Center, Dr. Zaher Merhi, began seeing 10 to 20 women per month, setting the foundation to establish a local ovarian rejuvenation program.

The demand leading to Saturday’s grand opening.

The lab not only caters to women, but to men as well.

Dr. Mehri says that 400% of men in some countries have dropped in their sperm concentration.

In the grand scheme of things, Minister of Health & Wellness Dr. Michael Darville said having a facility like this is beneficial for the country.
