NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Family medicine physician Dr. Keisha smith says what we’re seeing in clinics today is happening earlier than ever.

And she says many of those problems start in childhood.

Dr. Smith says children today are being exposed to poor food choices
at a much younger age and those habits don’t come from nowhere.

And she says even when schools try to step in, the biggest influence still happens at home.

But Dr. Smith says parents also need to watch what their children are doing even when they’re not looking.

Health experts like Dr. Smith say the goal isn’t to cancel Christmas. It’s simply to create balance.

Because the habits your children pick up, especially during the holidays, can follow them well into adulthood.
