NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A 32-year-old woman has been charged with making a false report in connection with the attempted abduction of her two-year-old daughter.

Yolanda Smith’s complaint on August 29 resulted in the arrest of Darren Major.
Smith alleged that Major tried to grab her daughter from a shopping cart while they were at Super Value in Golden Gates.

But Major was released from custody and Smith was arrested for making a false report after investigators viewed the store’s surveillance footage.

Smith pleaded not guilty to the charge at her arraignment before Senior Magistrate Carolyn Vogt-Evans on Friday.

She was granted $2,000 bail and her trial is set for October 25.

As a condition of bail, she has to sign in at the Carmichael Road Police Station on the last Sunday of each month and she’s forbidden from contacting witnesses.
