NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A father is left heartbroken after his 26-year-old daughter, Ishniequa Culmer, was shot and killed on Sunday night. Two others, including a young boy, were also injured in the incident.

Police say the shooting took place just before 10 p.m., when three individuals were sitting on a porch. According to reports, two men approached and opened fire before fleeing the scene. All three victims were struck by bullets. The juvenile and another woman in her twenties were transported to the hospital.

Among the grieving is Ishniequa’s father, Ishmell Culmer, who described the gut-wrenching moment he arrived at the scene and found his daughter lying in a pool of blood.

“That really hurt me, that hurt me bad, that hurt me, that hurt me. That really did hurt me,” he said, visibly emotional.

Culmer shared that his daughter was not involved in any criminal activity, describing her as a humble and hardworking young woman.

“She wasn’t that kind of person. She was a very humble child. Doing her lil hair work and stuff. Wasn’t in anyone’s business. Always stays to herself. Helping my mom out with everything, and she was never that kind of person. Never ever was that kind of person. never ever.”

Ishniequa was a beautician who worked independently and was preparing to celebrate her upcoming birthday.

“The last time I spoke with her, she said, ‘Daddy, my birthday is coming up,’ and she asked me, and I said, ‘Yeah, I’ll get the birthday cake for you.’ That’s the last thing she told me.”

Still grappling with the sudden loss, Culmer leaned on his faith for comfort.

“It hurt me. I don’t want to talk right now, but ya know I will deal with it. Father God will guide and protect us through this.”

Meanwhile, police are continuing their investigation and are urging anyone with information to come forward.

“We’re asking anyone with any information, as we do with each and every one of these incidents that if you have any information on this matter to please contact the police at 911, 919, or CID to assist us in investigating this matter and bringing justice to the family of this victim,” said Chief Superintendent Sheria King, Police Press Liaison.

Authorities have not yet identified any suspects in the case.
