Shooting Victim Dies Months After Allegedly Stopping Sex Assault

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A young man who was shot after allegedly helping a woman who was being sexually assaulted died in hospital over the weekend.

Alethia Ferguson-Cunningham recalls the days she visited her son, Arthur James Knowles, in the hospital after he was shot.

On August 28th 29-year-old Arthur Wilson experienced a life-altering event when he allegedly intervened to help a woman who had been assaulted.

According to his mother, Alethia Ferguson-Cunningham, that selfless act made him a target, ultimately costing him his life.

She says after he intervened, he started getting death threats and was shot moments after making a report at the criminal investigations department just days later.

Following the shooting Wilson was in and out of hospital for months, where he underwent emergency surgery.

His mom says doctors had to remove part of his skull, storing it in his abdomen to preserve it.

But claims the medical care that followed left much to be desired.

Last September, Ferguson-Cunningham told us in an exclusive interview that her son needed to be flown to Cuba for medical care.

Sadly he passed away on Saturday before he could make the trip.

She recalls her final conversation with her son on the day he died.

Despite his tragic death, she says she’s holding onto their most precious memories.

She confirmed investigators met with the family today.
