FREEPORT, GRAND BAHAMA – A community leader is taking a closer look at bullying and the impact it has on children, especially girls in The Bahamas. She tells Our News there’s concern over violence against women, and the actions that perpetuate it.

Kristina Dragovich reports.

Rochelle Lockhart is no stranger to bullying, and had to grapple with it from a young age.

But beyond how children are coping in schools, Lockhart says the wider issue is how young women allow themselves to be treated like property.

And while parents may be busy trying to make ends meet and food on the table, Lockhart is concerned some children may slip through the cracks.

Reach Out Youth Organization Executive Director, Dudley Seide says it was important to speak to young women during the conference.

Organizers wanted to send the message to all young people to choose Christ over guns.
