5.7 Quake Shakes Dominican Republic; No Damage Reported
NASSAU, BAHAMAS –
DOMINICAN REPUBLIC – A 5.7 magnitude earthquake struck off the Southeast coast of the Dominican Republic early Tuesday, according to the U.S. geological survey.
The quake hit 24 miles from Boca De Yuma and was felt across the country and in neighboring Puerto Rico. No damage was reported.
Hours earlier, a 4.1 quake rattled Haiti near Port-Au-Prince. That tremor was shallow but also caused no reported damage.
All 3 nations lie along major fault lines where the Caribbean and North American plates meet.
