Brown: “Golden Isles People Deserve More Than What They Can Get From The PLP”

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Free National Movement supporters gathered before sunrise Monday morning, filling the area outside Remnant Tabernacle Church with chants, music, and red flags as advanced polling opened for the Golden Isles by-election.

The energy centered around FNM candidate Brian Brown, who says he is confident he will become the next Member of Parliament for the constituency.

Brown was ratified as the FNM’s candidate earlier this year for the 2026 General Election, but following the sudden passing of former MP Vaughn Miller in September, Golden Isles voters are heading to the polls much sooner than expected. Just over 280 people registered to take part in today’s advanced poll.

Speaking with Our News outside the polling station, Brown said the feedback he has received during weeks of door to door campaigning convinces him the seat is within reach.

“Today we are going to make sure this process starts and we will end on next Monday morning, God spare life. I will say it again. Brian Brown will be the Member of Parliament for the Golden Isles constituency.”

Brown, who has lived in the constituency for more than 25 years, has repeatedly criticized the Davis administration’s recent upgrades in the area, claiming residents are only seeing roadworks and other improvements because voting day is around the corner.

“They are not going to buy Golden Isles. Golden Isles people deserve more than what they can get from the PLP government,” he said.

FNM Leader Michael Pintard was also on the ground supporting Brown. Pintard praised the long-time resident, saying his connection to the community makes him the right person to represent the area.

“We believe that Golden Isles deserves better and today is the beginning of delivering better,” Pintard said.

The Golden Isles by-election will be held on November 24.
