NASSAU, BAHAMAS – In the past several weeks there have been several drowning incidents across the country.

In light of those tragic situations, a swim instructor is providing some key tips that can possibly save a life.

Knowing how to swim can make a difference between life and death. Swimming coach Dellan Brown says it’s important that parents ensure that their children are supervised while swimming.

He says on some instances, children feel peer pressure while swimming.

Coach Brown says children can learn how to swim from they are one and half years old, as he says swimming is a lifelong skill.

Here in The Bahamas, many children are self-taught or are taught by their parents to swim but he says that’s not always the right way.
