NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A man accused of killing his pregnant lover and discarding her body in bushes remains in jail after a judge refused his request for bail.

Prosecutors charged Reuben Cartwright, 32, with the murder of his coworker and alleged lover Lauren Saunders after he led police to her body on October 25, 2025.

Cartwright allegedly told police that he panicked after Saunders passed out while he choked her during sex and he dumped her body in bushes off Munnings Drive.

A pathologist has been unable to say how Saunders died.

Senior Justice Cheryl Grant-Thompson said there had been no unreasonable delay in the case and cited concerns for Cartwright’s safety in refusing bail.
