DOMINICAN REPUBLIC – The Bahamas Under-14 boys football team is off to a winning start at the 2026 CFU U14 Challenge Series in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.

Competing in Tier II Group C, the Bahamas opened the tournament with a 3-0 victory over Anguilla and will next face Guyana on August 19.

The Bahamas is grouped with Anguilla, Guyana, and Montserrat, with the tournament providing another important opportunity for the country’s young players to gain international experience.

The squad, coached by Alexander Thompson and assistant coach Andre Roberts, features players from Cavalier, Renegades, Kix Academy, Skillz, and Western Warriors, along with players developing in the United States.

After the Guyana match, the Bahamas will have a rest day on August 20, before the semifinals on August 21 and final round of matches on August 23.

Minor League Baseball

Bahamian baseball star Sebastian Walcott remains one of the top prospects in professional baseball, checking in at No. 9 overall on the latest MLB Pipeline Top 100.

The Texas Rangers shortstop and third baseman entered the season ranked seventh, but missed significant time after undergoing internal-brace surgery on his right elbow.

Since returning, Walcott has given the Rangers plenty of reasons to remain excited about his future.

In his limited 2026 season action, Walcott is hitting .352, with 25 hits, four home runs, 11 RBIs, and four stolen bases in 71 at-bats. He has a .403 on-base percentage and a 1.065 OPS.

In his most recent series, he had three consecutive games with extra-base hits.

Swimming

The Bahamian team finished on top with 1,459.50 points, successfully defending its title and once again establishing itself as the region’s powerhouse in aquatics.

Hosts Trinidad and Tobago finished second with 1,269 points, while Jamaica placed third with 1,007 points.

Team Bahamas led from start to finish over the three-day competition, turning in a wire-to-wire performance to secure its fourth consecutive championship.

The result continues a dominant run for Bahamian swimming at the Goodwill Championships, with the team entering the meet determined to repeat as champions and leaving Trinidad with another title.

Equestrian

Anna Camille Vlasov and her horse Gulliver du Saint-Chene have qualified for the 2027 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru, following a top-10 finish at the Central American and Caribbean Games in Santo Domingo.

Under the guidance of German coach Jan Distel, Vlasov and the 14-year-old Belgian Warmblood finished 10th overall in the individual equestrian jumping competition, making them the third-highest-ranked individual combination at the Games and securing their Pan Am qualification.

The pair entered the final in sixth after moving up the standings with two strong rounds on day two, including the fastest clear round of the night in 68.43 seconds.

In the individual final, they had a chance to contend for a medal, but an unlucky rail on the final jump kept them out of the jump-off.

It marks Vlasov’s second CAC Games appearance and her first individual final, with her next target now set for Lima in 2027.
