Leaders React to Davis’ Death

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Immediately following the tragedy, tributes began pouring in. Among those sending in condolences was Prime Minister Philip Davis and Former Prime Minister Dr. Hubert Minnis who explained why he felt compelled to meet the youngster.

The former prime minister is among thousands of Bahamians shaken by the tragic killing.

Following his graduation from C. I Gibson High School Davis Jr. met Former Prime Minister Minnis in 2018. According to Dr. Minnis, he and Gibson had a lot in common.

Dr. Minnis says he committed to sending him a financial contribution every month while at college, and promised the ambitious young man that a job would be waiting for him once he graduated.

In a statement Prime Minister Philip Davis said the college graduate’s determination and his success reached and inspired so many. The PM adding that to lose him this way when he was about to embark on the next stage of his life feels truly unbearable.

Free National Movement Leader Michael Pintard also expressing condolences, saying there must be a continued demand for the senseless bloodshed to stop.

Aliv also sending condolences to the family, explaining that Davis served as a summer intern in the finance department back in 2019.
