Flamingo Air Provides Key Updates Post-independence Day Crash

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Following the Independence Day Plane Crash that killed ten persons, Flamingo Airlines is providing updates in the aftermath of that crash.

It was Independence Day we won’t forget.

The Cessna 402 plane crashed as it approached the runway, killing all ten on board.

Among them, members of Da Pond Band, a popular DJ, three Androsians and a pilot.

Flamingo Air was grounded following the crash and an earlier incident that very same day involving another flight, resulting in authorities suspending their operating certificate license.

If you live in Bimini, Exuma, Great Harbour Cay, or South Eleuthera, this affects you, as ehe airline tells Our News those are the routes that have been grounded, including both chartered and scheduled.

They also confirmed that a significant amount of tickets have been refunded, with the process resuming in the next 30 days.

Then, what about the employees?

The airline says they’ve been furloughed or to simply put it, given temporary time off with the intent of having them returned to work.

Immediately following the accident, the company also promised to meet with the grieving families, but decided to put a hold on this until the bodies have been officially identified.

They also promise that those meetings will not include anything in relation to the investigation.

They’re also taking a further step, offering counseling as well.

Meanwhile, as the path forward is uncertain, Flamingo Air is promising to fully cooperate with authorities while supporting families as they live through this nightmare.

Our News reached out to Chief Investigator at the Aircraft Accident investigation Authority, Kendall Dorsett Jr., for an update on the investigation, but didn’t get a response up to news time.
