Bahamian Entertainer Stefan Legend Killed in Florida Crash

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Shockwaves ran through The Bahamas Thursday, as news spread of the death of Bahamian artist and entertainer Stefan Davis, better known as Stefan Legend.

According to reports from NBC 6 in South Florida, the crash happened just before 7:45 Wednesday night in the Brownsville area.

Police were reportedly pursuing a suspect wanted for military desertion, when that suspect crashed into two vehicles.

One of those vehicles was an unmarked deputy’s car with the deputy escaping with minor injuries.

Davis was in the other vehicle, and did not survive.

Neighbors recall hearing a loud boom, before emergency crews arrived and worked to remove Davis from the vehicle.

Back home, the news has left a deep void in the Bahamian creative community.

Davis was well known for his airbrush artwork through airbrush junkies, a business he built into a longstanding brand.

But his influence extended well beyond his art.

Fellow artist and Ambassador to UNESCO, Jamaal Rolle, says Davis was a force across several areas of the entertainment and cultural scene.

Rolle says Davis was also someone he looked up to as a young artist.

“As a young aspiring artist, I had the opportunity to be mentored in how to have a business as an artist, because he was that example who had a business…something thriving in the mall for 25 years.”

It was that part of Davis’ legacy that made him stand out.

He wasn’t just creating art, he was building a business, creating opportunities, and showing other young artists that their talent could become a career.
