NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The coroner is leading the investigation into the death of a suspected axe murderer who police shot down as he stood over the man he attacked.

It happened Sunday night, in a violent altercation believed to have been sparked after a night of drinking, turned deadly.

Police Press Liaison Officer, Chief Superintendent Chrislyn Skippings says two men were involved in an altercation off Mount Royal Avenue shortly before 7pm. One man was chopped to the upper body by a man wielding an axe.

When responding officers arrived on the scene, they found the axe-wielder standing over his reported victim, appearing to attempt to chop him a second time.

That’s when police say they fatally shot the man with the axe.

Both victims are believed to be young men.

With the country’s murder count has already surpassing the triple digit mark, Skippings is also making an urgent appeal to members of the public to seek help with conflict resolution.
