DPM: Financial Services Not A Political Issue

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Weeks after The Bahamas was blacklisted, Deputy Prime Minister Chester Cooper maintains The Bahamas is a well-regulated jurisdiction for financial services and in many instances more regulated than some countries in the European Union.

The E.U. says the country’s move to the blacklist is due to The Bahamas’ failure to satisfy deficiencies relating to compliance actions and exchanges of information over its economic substance regime.

Cooper says he’s always maintained there seems to be an attack on The Bahamas.

Cooper also explaining financial services is not a political issue.
