ABACO, BAHAMAS – It was a day of assessments on the islands affected by Nicole, as Acting Prime Minister Chester Cooper led the way, making Abaco his first stop.

The delegation visited a shelter on Abaco. Friendship Tabernacle Church Pastor Silbert Mills explaining while the island was without power and water for hours during the storm, evacuees didn’t go without those essentials.

The delegation also visiting the Marsh Harbour Port, an area completely covered by water due to high tides during the storm. When Our News arrived, workers were there cleaning up the debris.

Acting PM Cooper said it seems Abaco fared quite well, but he recognized the need to bring Abaco back to pre-Dorian levels.

To facilitate that, he says there’s significant foreign direct investment geared towards Abaco.

While over Abaco, Nicole packed more than 65 mph winds, resulting in downed trees and poles in some areas.

Hours after the all clear was given, clean-up began and businesses quickly reopened.
