NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Last year wasn’t exactly the best year for Christmas carnival operators but this year is much different.

Joe Alberts, a manager at the carnival, says they’re ready to rock and roll.

This time around, Alberts says the focus is on safety.

The Christmas carnival was embroiled in controversy last year after questions surfaced about who gave operators approval as the country battled a surge in COVID-19 cases.

As officials continue to unload at fort charlotte, the ministry of health and wellness decided not to grant McCafferty’s Enterprises Bahamas Limited – the company that operates the carnival – approval to operate.

This time around, Alberts says the plan is to employ up to 100 Bahamians.

As the world still grappling with rising prices, Alberts says residents can expect prices to remain the same.

He says some rides you were used to didn’t return this year, but they’ve been replaced.
