NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Former Parliamentarian Frederick Mcalpine is vowing to be a strong advocate for Bahamians, even from the sidelines. He says Grand Bahama in particular is long overdue for an economic boost.

Jillian Gray has that.

Dressed down in a relaxed sweatshirt and jeans, former parliamentarian Fredrick Mcalpine says the past few weeks have been a time of introspection after a firey election season.

He says Grand Bahama is in dire need of an economic boost and  he has vowed to be a strong advocate for the people even in private life.

Mcalpine says he’s giving this government a chance to show it can govern.

But he has one bit of advice — is to learn from the missteps of the former administration.

Mcalpine received the greatest number of votes out of all the independent candidates in the last general election.

He was however edged out by Ginger Moxey, who won by just over 200 votes. Mcalpine says he appreciates the support he received.
