Prime Minister Honored in Miami

MIAMI, USA – The nation’s leader among a special group of distinguished men honored today at the 30th annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. scholarship breakfast in Miami, Florida.

It is the brainchild of United States Congresswoman Frederica Wilson who founded the 5,000 Role Models of Excellence Project, a mentorship program for at risk young men, 30 years ago.

Today the program has grown with thousands of role models across the state of Florida and this year 49 young men were awarded scholarships.

Bringing remarks was the Second Gentleman of the U.S., Douglas Emhoff, husband of U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris.

Among the number of role models inducted today were Bahamians, Dr. Danny Johnson, former Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture; Curt Hollingsworth, Consul General in Miami; and Prime Minister Philip Davis.

Davis calling the induction an honor, adding that a similar initiative is needed in The Bahamas.

Prime Minister Davis also receiving the key to Miami Dade County.

Actor Omari Hardwick was also named the official national spokesman for the 5000 Role Models of Excellence Project.
