NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Davis administration is promising a crackdown on the expansion of shantytowns but the prime minister has made it clear that he does not want to create a homeless issue.
NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Davis administration is promising a crackdown on the expansion of shantytowns but the prime minister has made it clear that he does not want to create a homeless issue.
This comes after fire at a shantytown in southern New Providence earlier this month destroyed 20 homes.
Just one day after, the Minister of Social Services and Urban Development, Obie Wilchcombe, announced his department was prepared to offer assistance.
Prime Minister Philip Davis also announcing the government is finally prepared to take action against the growing shantytown communities.
