NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Straw vendors at the historical Bay Street Straw Market up in arms after they say their cries have fallen on deaf ears and now they’re calling on government to step in.

Jameelha Missick reports.

President of the Straw Business Persons Association, Rebecca Small says vendors have been waiting on a meeting with government to hear their concerns, One of them being, to continue a rotation system put in place during the pandemic.

She says a survey was conducted, and the majority voted in favor of the rotation system.

But straw vendor Jan Cartwright is sharing a different view.

She’s a part of the eleven vendors who opted for the full opening of the market.
