NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A 16-year-old pregnant girl who escaped lawful custody during an appointment at the Adolescent Health Clinic on Shirley Street is back in custody.

Police say the teen, a resident of the Willie Mae Pratt Centre for Girls since September 2022, escaped on March 9.

On Tuesday, the teen was recaptured at a home in the area of Windsor Place. She was arrested by officers from operation ceasefire, who were acting on a tip.

They say she was found in good health.

Social Services Minister Obie Wilchcombe addressed the matter before walking into the House of Assembly Tuesday morning.
