U.S. Airlines Complaints Denied

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A decision has been handed down following complaints by United States-based airlines which are not happy about overflight fees and the U.S. Department of Transport has sided with The Bahamas.

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A decision has been handed down following complaints by United States-based airlines which are not happy about overflight fees and the U.S. Department of Transport has sided with The Bahamas.

The fees were implemented in May 2021.

Tourism and Aviation Minister Chester Cooper seeking to clear up the situation in the House of Assembly, Wednesday.

Cooper telling parliamentarians that in January 2023, a comprehensive response was filed by The Bahamas calling for a dismissal of the complaints on several key grounds.

He says prior to the final ruling by the U.S, Department of Transportation, The Bahamas initiated discussions with U.S. government which was followed by two productive sessions with the U.S. Department of Transportation.
