NASSAU, BAHAMAS – On this day in Bahamian history in 1928 Governor Charles William James Orr approved a bill entitled “A Bill to Provide a Water Supply and Water-Borne Sewerage System for the City of Nassau and its Suburbs”.

The passage of this bill would lead to the creation of what we know today as the Water & Sewerage Corporation.

In 2013, the Ministry of Transport and Aviation reporting a third oil spill at BORCO on Grand Bahama in waters in the area of Pinder’s Point, Grand Bahama.

The Port Department responded immediately and found oil was covering an area of about 70 feet on rocks at a breakwater in the area of BORCO’s pipelines that connected with a jetty.

It was the same site of another oil spill in February that year.

In 2021 the Ministry of Health and Wellness reported that more than 6,000 Bahamians had been fully vaccinated.

The Ministry said 50,242 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine had been administered in The Bahamas with more than 40,000 Bahamians and residents receiving one dose of the vaccine.
